We have been asked many times why we feel so strongly that every local church should have a Pastoral Prayer Ministry Team who are willing to be available, alongside the leadership, to pray for the wounded and the hurting within the congregation. This book aims to answer that question, as well as to suggest a variety of ways in which such team could be trained and used, Jesus said that His job description was "to preach the gospel to the poor... to heal the brokenhearted; to proclaim deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind; to set at liberty those who are oppressed" (Luke 4:18) and as such He was always bringing healing wherever he saw a need. The Body of Christ is called upon to continue that work until He comes again, for the healing ministry is as much a part of the Church's mission as is the saving of souls and the social gospel. This book is a response to a church's request as to ways of establishing a pastoral prayer ministry team within their local church.
